In projects completed in 2026, it is clear that architects are placing increasing emphasis on how HVAC systems are integrated into interior and exterior architecture. Air conditioning, ventilation, and heating are now standard features of modern buildings. When designing interiors or facades, it is difficult to treat technical equipment as something completely visually neutral. Air conditioning units, radiators, and other system components clearly influence the perception of the entire space. In such projects, covers and enclosures are becoming increasingly important, as they help organize the technical aspects of the building while seamlessly integrating them into the overall design concept.
At PERFOPOL’s Polish manufacturing facility, solutions are developed to meet these needs, crafted from perforated sheet metal, expanded metal, and laser-cut components. These materials are used, among other things, in the enclosure of air conditioners, radiators, ventilation systems, and other equipment that requires proper air circulation while remaining as visually unobtrusive as possible.
Based on our many years of experience, we know that fine, regular perforations produce one effect, the more open structure of expanded metal produces another, and a custom pattern created using laser cutting produces yet another. The size of the openings, the element’s format, the type of material, the color, and the surface finish are also important factors. As a result, the cladding need not appear as a technical addition introduced only at the final stage of the project. It can be designed in tandem with the interior or facade and become a natural part of them.

In the case of air conditioning units, a metal cover helps reduce their visibility and organize the space around the installation. When used with radiators, it can serve both a practical and decorative function. In larger facilities, similar solutions can be used to enclose entire technical zones while maintaining the required airflow.

Perforated sheet metal offers great freedom in working with rhythm, geometry, and the degree of openness. Expanded metal adds a more spatial character and creates an interesting visual effect that changes depending on the viewing angle. Laser cutting, in turn, allows for the creation of a custom pattern that can reflect the building’s architecture, the character of the interior, or the project’s visual identity. It is precisely this flexibility that makes metal an increasingly common choice in applications where technical requirements must be combined with thoughtful aesthetics.
